    雅思阅读判断题解析

    TURE/FALSE/NOT GIVEN与YES/NO/NOT GIVEN之间有区别么?

    答案:有区别,但区别很小。

T/F/NG被用于判断事实类题目(Are the statements true according to theinformation in the passage?)

Y/N/NG被用于判断作者的观点类题目(Do the statements agree with the viewsexpressed by the writer?)

    其实两者之间的区别并不重要,我们完全可以运用同样的解题技巧来应对这类问题。

    此类题目主要的解题步骤为:

    1.      划定位词(专有名词,数字等);

    2.      对应原文找答案(解题关键词及同义替换);

    3.      果断舍弃难度较大的题目。

    Examples

    1.      TRUE (事实类)

    题目:

It is possible, but notnormal, to say “powerfultea.

    原文:

While the same meaning couldbe conveyed through the roughly equivalent powerful tea, the fact is that Englishprefers to speak of tea in terms of being strong rather than interms of being powerful.

    解析:

定位词-“powerful tea”;could be相当于possible, convey可以替换to say; English prefers strong rather thanpowerful意思上相当于not normal. 故选TRUE.

    2.      YES (观点类)

    题目:

The information age is characterized by ourexposure to an abundance of data.

    原文:

The information age now buries us in datacoming at us from every which way.

    解析:

定位词”The information age”; comingat us对应exposure;buriesus in data对应an abundance of data, 故选YES.

    3.      FALSE (事实)

    题目:

He dedicated the wholeday to his work.

    原文:

At noon he ceased work for the day and spenthalf an hour practicing the flute, on which he became quite a skilledperformer.

    解析:

此题没有特别明显的定位词;cease表示stop; At noon he ceased work forthe day也就说明他没有dedicate the whole day to his work, 故选FALSE.

    4.      NO (观点)

    题目:

The majority of choiceswe make on a daily basis are conscious decisions.

    原文:

Most of the choices we make each day may feel like theproducts of well-considered decision making, but they’re not. They’re habits.

    解析:

most of the choices对应majority of choices, each day对应daily, well-considered decision making对应conscious decisions, 到目前为止似乎是一个YES的答案。但继续往下读,转折词but之后出现了真正的解题信息—they ‘re not. They’ re habits, 故选NO。

    5. NOT GIVEN

    题目:

Houdini was more successful in Europe than in America.

    原文:

He first attracted attentionas “Harry Handcuff Houdini”on a tour of Europe, where he challenged police forces to keep him locked up.

    解析:

    定位词为Houdini和Europe,但原文中没有提到America以及任何与more successful相关的比较关系,故选NOT GIVEN.

    Remember:

    TRUE/YES: the correct information isgiven

FALSE/NO: different information isgiven, contradictingthe statement

NOT GIVEN: we don’t know the answer;there isn’t enoughinformation
